Holiday Itinerary - Day by Day Travel Details:
Day 01: Arrival Paro
On arrival at Paro airport to meet with our local tour executive who will assist for your hotel transfer. Check in at hotel and rest of the day at leisure.
Overnight stay at the booked hotel in Paro.
Day 02: Paro To Thimphu
After breakfast to go for half day sightseeing and to visit the Drukyel Dzong , the historical fortress built in 1974 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel to commemorate his victory over Tibetan invaders.
Later to visit Ta Dzong which was built in 1651 as a watch tower. Since 1951 the Dzong has been re-established as the National Museum and holds fascinating collections of art and religious Thankha paintings.
Afternoon to leave for Thimphu [65 Kms / 2 hrs drive ) the capital of Bhutan lies at an elevation of 2300m. On arrival in Thimphu , to check in at the booked hotel and be at leisure for rest of the day. You may could also go for a walk in the valley.
Night stay in Thimphu.
Day 03 : Thimphu To Wangdi
After breakfast to go for half day sightseeing in Thimphu and visit the memorial chorten- the stupa built in 1974 in the memory of late king Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, The painting and images inside the monuments provide a rare sight into Buddhist Philosophy and later to visit Mothinthang Zoo and viewpoint.
Afternoon to check out from the Thimpu hotel and drive to Wangdiphodrang (70 Kms / 03 hrs ) . This is the last town on the highway before entering central Bhutan .The drive over Dochu La Pass is very scenic with fascinating view of mountain of Bhutan.
Overnight stay at hotel / resort in Wangdi.
Day 04 : In Wangdi
After breakfast to go for full day Gangtey excursion ,Gangtey Gompa in the Phobjikha Valley, is a 16th century monastery.
It is the only monastery in Bhutan ,which follows the Nyingmapa sect of Buddhism.
The Phobjikha valley is home to rare black naked Crane , an endangered species , which migrate from the Tibetan Plateau in winters,about 250-300 of these reside in this beautiful valley, and return to Wangdiphodrang in the evening .
Overnight stay at resort in Wangdi.
Day 05: Wangdi to Paro via Punakha
After breakfast leave for Punakha ,the valley , which lies amidst snow-capped mountain peaks ,served as capital of Bhutan until 1955.
The Punakha Dzong built at the confluence of the poi and mo chu rivers in the 17th century by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel. The Dzong houses sacred artifacts and the embalmed body of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel.
Later to drive to Paro ( 150 Kms / 05 hrs).
Overnight at resort in Paro.
Day 06: Departure from Paro
After breakfast to check out and depending on flight timings to transfer to the Airport for onward connection.
