Holiday Itinerary - Day by Day Travel Details:
Day 1.: Arrival in Guwati.
On arrival at Guwati airport to meet with our local tour executive, who will assist in your airport check out and thereafter to leave for Manas National park – 180 kms / 4 hours drive, a World Heritage site and world famous for tigers and its natural beauty. The park covers an area of 2,840 km, but its core area is 360 km. While tiger sighting is rare, you might just catch sight of the golden langur, the Asiatic buffalo, wild bison, wild dog (dhole), otter and civet. The rare red pandas are also found here but on the Bhutan side.
On arrival, check in at the Bansbari Lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 02: Manas National Park
To wake up early morning and go for elephant ride, inside the park and also experience nauture from close quarters. Thereafter to come back to the Lodge for breakfast,and after breakfast to go on a nature walk inside the forest to see the different types of birds etc. For birdwatchers such diverse nature within this small area is an opportunity to encounter with varied species. The Bengal Florican and Great Pied Hornbill are almost sure sightings. Along the river banks one can spot water birds such as mergansers, Brahminy ducks and egrets. Back to the lodge for lunch and the go for a Jeep safari inside the park. One can discover the wonders of Manas: the Bhutan Himalaya, foothill tree forests, the riverine landscapes, the swamps and the rich grasslands. Numerous animals live in this diverse nature, some rare mammals being Bengal Tigers, One Horned Rhinoceros, Asian Elephants, Pygmy Hog, Hispid Hare, Golden Langur etc. The safari is up to Mathanguri Point on the Bhutan side. Walks are allowed on Bhutan side, along the river for sighting of golden langur. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 03: Manas National Park – Nameri National Park
After breakfast to check out and leave for Nameri National Park ( 6 hours / 310 km).On arrival, to check in at the Eco Camp. Afternoon, at leisure and could take a walk on the banks of river Jia Bhoroli that flows near the camp. The Eco camp has comfortable double bedded tents with a thatched roof canopy. Come back to the camp at dusk. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 04: Nameri National Park
Early morning go for river rafting on Jia Bhoroli river. This short rafting trip for 2 hours is ideal for seeing the birds and wildlife from close by. Back to the camp for breakfast. Thereafter could go for trekking inside the park. A naturalist will guide you on this trip. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 05 : Nameri National Park –Tezpur - Kaziranga National Park
After breakfast, drive to the ancient town of Tezpur (40 km / 1 hour). On arrival, to do sightseeing of Tezpur and thereafter to proceed to Kaziranga National Park (85 km / 2 hours), a world heritage site and famous for its one horned rhino.
On arrival, check in at the resort. Dinner and overnight stay at the resort.
Day 06 : Kaziranga
To get up very early in the morning for an exciting elephant ride. Enjoy the ride through the Park for about an hour and get the feel of beautiful nature, get to see the famous one horned rhino, wild elephant, Indian bison, swampdeer, samba, hogdeer, tiger, leopard, jungle cat, capped langoor, etc.
Thereafter to return to the resort and after breakfast to go and explore the Central range of the park on a Jeep safari. It is an ideal introduction to the park and its ecology as the route passes through the entire spectrum of habitat types prevalent in the area. There is a possibility of sighting elephants as well as the other Mega herbivores and the famous Rhino. Afternoon go on another Jeep safari inside Western range of the National Park to enjoy the wildlife of the park.
The route traverses the southwest portion of the park. This range has maximum short grass areas and is the optimum habitat for Rhino and Water Buffalo. Part of the drive is also through Low Alluvial Savannah Woodland.
Traditional cultural dance at the resort in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the resort.
Day 07 : Kaziranga – Gibbon - Jorhat - Majuli
Early morning to drive to Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary (135 km/ 3 hours).Once you are there to go trekking inside the park to see the Hillock Gibbon and other different varieties of primates found here. Then drive to Neematighat (75 kms/2 hours) to Neemati Ghat for your ferry ride to Majuli, one of the biggest inhabited river islands in the world. A 2 hours downstream boat cruise will take you to Majuli nestled between Subansiri and Brahmaputra river, famous for the Assamese Vaishnavite satras or monasteries, the Mishing tribals and also for the migratory birds that come here from different parts of the world.
On arrival, check-in at the traditional Mishing Chang.
Overnight stay at the Chang.
Day .: 08 : Majuli - Jorhat
After breakfast to visit Mishing tribal village en-route passing through Mishing tribal houses that are typified by being built on stilts and their ‘long house’ style of design.
Thereafter visit the famous Satras (monastery) of Majuli. These monasteries were set up in the 16th century and nuture the traditional dance of ‘Satriya’, (which is a national dance of India).Also enjoy a traditional cultural dance program at the monastery.
Thereafter a 2 hour boat ride back to Neematighat and then drive to Jorhat ( 20 km/ 45 mins), which is the last capital of the Ahom kings. On arrival, check-in and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day .: 09 : Jorhat – Sibsagar – Dibru Saikhowa National Park
After breakfast, drive (55 kms/ 1 hour) to Sibsagar, the ancient capital town of the Ahom kingdom, who ruled Assam at a stretch of 600 years before coming in of the British. The ancient temples and monuments like Ranghar (largest & oldest amphitheatre of Asia), Karenghar, Talatalghar, Siva Dol (one of world’s tallest shiva temple), etc. can be seen.
After lunch at Sibsagar, drive on to Dibru Saikhowa National Park (140 km/ 3 hours). Dibru Saikhowa Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the least known, but potentially most rewarding of Assam’s national parks, albeit with very basic accommodation, and it protects 640 square kilometres of grasslands, marshes and riverine forest. One of the few remaining protected sites in the Endemic Bird Area of the Assamese Plains, the sanctuary is home to globally threatened species such as White-winged Wood Duck, White-bellied Heron, Lesser Adjutant, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, Swamp Partridge, Jerdon’s Babbler, Black-breasted Parrotbill and Striated Grassbird. It is also home to some restricted-range species, such as the Marsh Babbler, Swamp Prinia and Yellow Weaver. On arrival, check-in at bamboo cottage. Overnight at the cottage.
Day .: 10 : Dibru Saikhowa National Park
After breakfast to go for trekking inside the forest to see the wildlife at close.
Overnight stay at the cottage.
Day.: 11 : Dibru Saikhowa - Dibrugarh – Depart for onward tour plans.
After breakfast, to check out and transfer to Dibrugarh airport for your onward flight.
